~~LARYNGEAL PAPILLOMAS~~. DO YOU KNOW WHAT THESE ARE??? ONE OF OUR CHILDREN HAVE HAD THIS FROM AGE 8 YEARS OF AGE. OUR CHILD HAS HAD 9 SURGERIES FOR THIS IN 5 YEARS. THEN NO SURGERIES FOR 11 YEARS. NOW SHE IS HAVING TROUBLE TALKING AND BREATHING. SHE WILL HAVE SURGERY AGAIN THE DAY BEFORE THANKSGIVING~ THIS WILL BE NUMBER (10).NO IT DOESN'T GET ANY EASIER FOR US AS HER PARENTS EVEN THOUGH SHE IS AN ADULT NOW. WE STILL WORRY VERY MUCH ABOUT HER AND EACH AND EVERYTIME SHE HAS SURGERY.WE DO LOVE HER DEARLY..
LARYNGEAL PAPILLOMA, ALSO CALLED RECURRING RESPITARORY PAPILLOMAS (RRP), WARTS ON THE VOCAL CHORDS.MANY TIMES THE PEOPLE WHO SUFFER FROM (RRP) ARE CHILDREN.OFTEN THESE CHILDREN ARE SUBJECT TO LASER SURGERY TO REMOVE THE WARTS FROM THEIR VOCAL CHORDS. IT IS SOMETIMES NECESSARY TO PERFORM THIS LASER SURGERY SEVERAL TIMES PER YEAR. SOME OF THE CHILDREN USE I3C CAPS,THESE CAPSULES SIGNIFICANTLY DECREASE THE NUMBER OF LASER SURGERIES NECESSARY. YES OUR CHILD TOOK THESE FOR MANY YEARS, THEN HAD A BREAK FROM THEM. NOW SHE WILL START TAKEN THEM AGAIN IN HOPES THAT THEY HELP SLOW OR STOP THE PAPILLOMA GROWTHS FROM GROWING AGAIN.
SHE HAS ALWAYS BEEN VERY UP BEAT ABOUT HAVING THESE SURGERIES. I THINK IT WAS SO MUCH HARDER ON ME ~~MOM ~~ I ALWAYS WORRIED ABOUT HER ,EVERY SURGERY IS HARD ON US. BUT SHE WOULD WAKE UP AND BE VERY HAPPY . THANK GOODNESS I THINK THAT HELPED ME ALOT TO ALSO GET THROUGH EACH AND EVERY SURGERY. SHE IS A VERY STRONG AND INDEPENDENT YOUNG WOMAN. WE ARE SO PROUD OF HER. WE WILL BE PRAYING THAT AFTER THIS SURGERY SHE WILL NOT HAVE TO HAVE ANY MORE. THAT WOULD BE AN ANSWERED PRAYER.
WE LOVE HER VERY MUCH !!!!
WHY DO DIETARY INHIBIT THE GRWOTH OF WARTS IN SOFT TISSUE LIKE THE VOCAL CHORDS? WARTS REPRESENT UNWANTED CELL DIVISION AND CELL DIVISION RESULTS FROM THE ACTION OF ESTROGENIC HORMONES. THE DIETARY INDOLES MODIFY THE METABOLISM OF HORMONES TO MAKE THEM LESS ESTROGENIC. THES EARE LIKE EATING YOUR VEGGIES~~ BUT YOU TAKE THEM IN PILL FORM. THEY HELP WITH ANY KIND OF WARTS. IT IS VERY HARD FOR HER TO HAVE PAPILLOMAS ON HER VOCAL CHORDS~ 1. BECAUSE IT MAKES IT HARD TO BREATH WHEN THEY GROW OR WHEN YOU HAVE SCARE TISSUE. SHE DOES HAVE SOME OF BOTH. SO SURGERY IS THE ONLY ANSWER AND TO TAKE I3C CAPS TO HELP SLOW THE GROWTHS. I WOULD HAVE THOUGHT AFTER ALL THESE YEARS THEY WOULD HAVE FOUND A WAY TO CURE THESE FROM EVERY COMMING BACK.

How stressful for all of you! I pray you will all get through it as easily as possible.
Consider yourself Blessed. My son has Laryngeal papillomatosis.
He is 15 months old and has to have surgery every 10 days. We just got home from Cincinnati Children's Hospital yesterday. He had surgery on Friday and we got more bad news the disease is still spreading even though he has been on interferon for almost 2 months. Luckly he has not experience any of the bad side effects associated w/this drug.
His surgery went well and we were supossed to be able to go home but in the PACU he started to retain CO2 and the had to reintubate him and send him to the PICU.
They excabated him the next day and he did well but still needed O2 and we were able to move to the complex airway unit on Sunday where they weaned him off the O2 and we were dischared on Monday
